A. The fees for mediation services are billed on a “flat fee” basis.

  How long does mediation take?
A. This will depend on how thoroughly the parties need to discuss the issues of their divorce.

  Do I need an attorney?
A. The parties can, on their own, execute all necessary paperwork to obtain a divorce. However, mediation is NOT a substitute for a legal review and each party is encouraged to seek a review from an attorney of their own choosing, or other professionals such as accountants or financial analysts. The decision to seek any such review is totally at the discretion of each party.

Q.

  What if we have already agreed on certain settlement items?
A. For couples who have reached agreement on certain items of their divorce; the role and function of the mediator would be to review these agreements while asking questions which might revise the parties thinking.

Q.

  Do both of us need to attend mediation?
A. Yes. Mediation is a voluntary confidential process which is dependent on the active participation of each party.
